Volkswagen Group fight! Volkswagen Group fight! At the annual Pebble Beach festival of prosecco and red corduroy trousers that will take place the following month, not only Bugatti and Lamborghini will be unveiling new, ultra-fast shards of carbon fiber exclusivity. In addition, Audi is bringing a top-secret study on the design of a supercar to California. It looks like Audi, Lambo, and Bugatti are going to battle it out for the spotlight.

The PB 18 e-tron, which Audi is marketing as "a design study for a puristic sports car of the future," is the highlight of the show for the German automaker. The only thing we have seen so far is this ominous teaser shot, which hints at a low, wide, marauding supercar with cameras mounted at roof level instead of door mirrors, similar to how an ant's antenna would be mounted.

And what kind of Audi would it be if it didn't have a pair of blazingly bright LED running light motifs that seared themselves into your eyeballs? Check. It will make an effort to divert attention away from the newly released Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, which has already conquered the Nürburgring, and the Bugatti Divo track-special.

It is about time that Audi connected its enormous success in Le Mans racing with its road cars, and the company promises that "the technology of the Audi R18 e-tron inspired the solutions for various details" of the PB 18. However, this newcomer won't be a diesel for a number of reasons that are pretty self-explanatory. Because of its "powerful electric drive," Audi refers to the automobile as producing "emotion rather than emissions." We couldn't be more thrilled.

The PB 18 will be shown off to the public for the first time at the Laguna Seca raceway. At this point, it is not possible to verify the reports that operatives working for Lamborghini and Bugatti were seen sneaking around the track while carrying oil and banana peels.
