New York: American Airlines is placing a bet on a future in which supersonic jets might return to the skies. This would allow the airline to transport passengers on certain routes at speeds that are approximately twice as fast as those achieved by conventional commercial aircraft.
However, the size of that wager is not completely clear at this time. American has declined to share the financial terms of the deal, which was announced on Tuesday. American has stated that it has placed a deposit for up to 20 supersonic jets and has the option to purchase up to 20 more of these aircraft.
